Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, where casino gambling is not permitted. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel compound that highlights numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
